Jacolyn “Jackie” Foreman Martin, age 86, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

She was born September 22, 1925 in Little Rock, the only child of the late Robert L. Foreman and Frances Coopwood Foreman, and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1943. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Lindenwood College in St. Louis, and continued post-graduate work at several universities over the years.

Mrs. Martin taught chemistry in Centralia, IL, and later worked as a chemical technician at the University of Wisconsin Medical School and Mt. Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee. Prior to moving to Pine Bluff in 1958, she had also lived in South Bend, IN. For 27 years, she taught mathematics in both the Dollarway and White Hall School Districts.

Jackie was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church since 1960. She served in numerous capacities over the years, including the Episcopal Church Women both at the local and diocesan levels. She had also served on the Altar Guild, and at the time of her death was a member of the church vestry.

She was a member of the Lindenwood College Alumna Board from 1976 until 1981. In addition, she had served on the board of Citizens to Save the Pines Hotel (CUSP), and was a member of the Tri-County Genealogical Society of Lee-Phillips-Monroe Counties.

She married Steve Martin in 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1987.

Jackie’s survivors include two sons, Steve A. Martin (Patricia) and Robert W. Martin; a daughter Aleta Martin; and two grandchildren, Marisa Martin and Zachary Martin.

Funeral Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Clark officiating. Interment will be Friday, 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
